Account information you give us: name, email, country, discipline, optional bio and profile photo. Content you post: questions, answers, and moderation reports. Usage information from your browser: pages visited, features used, locale, IP address (hashed for abuse triage).
To run your account and authenticate sessions. To deliver the platform: posting, browsing, search, notifications. To understand which features matter to engineers across Africa so we know what to build next. We do not sell your data.
You: everything in your profile. Other signed-in users: your public profile, posts, and answers. Sydney (the operator): everything, for moderation and support. Infrastructure providers (Railway, Cloudflare, Resend, PostHog, Sentry) process data on our behalf under their own privacy commitments. We do not share with advertisers or data brokers.
PostgreSQL on Railway EU-West (Amsterdam). Backups encrypted at rest. Passwords stored as bcrypt hashes only. We never store plaintext passwords or tokens. Backup retention: 30 days.
Access and export: contact us. Correction: edit your profile in settings. Deletion: use 'Delete account' in settings. Deletion is immediate and revokes every active session across every device. Soft-delete preserves audit trail (your posts get author-removed) for 30 days, then hard-delete.
